Accra, Friday, 12th Nov. 2010 – At an impressive ceremony at Parliament House, Mr. Stephen Kpordzih, Managing Director of ADB handed over a donation of $50,000.00 to Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah, MP for Afigya-Sekyere and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.
The amount is in support of a study tour of members of the Committee to the House of Commons in the United Kingdom to build the capacity of the Committee members.
Mr. Kpordzih said the work of the Committee is very important and that no effort should be spared to enhance the capacity of its members.
Noting that this was not the first time ADB has had to offer assistance to Parliament, Mr. Kpordzih said ADB shall continue to lend support to the Parliament of Ghana in
ways which will help to build the capacity of the members and deepen the practice of democracy in the country.
“The work of The Parliament of Ghana impacts positively on every sector of the national economy. The business community must therefore see it as a responsibility to work in close collaboration with Parliament to create an environment conducive for business operations and economic life in general,” he said.
In response, Hon. Albert Kan-Dapaah, MP for Afigya-Sekyere and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee was full of praise for the gesture of ADB. “What you have done is
to assist the Public Accounts Committee to discharge its duties to the people of Ghana,” he noted.
