ADB Wins 3 Awards At Ghana Banking Awards
Jun 24 2013The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has been crowned with three prestigious awards at the 2012 Ghana Banking Awards which was announced last Saturday. ADB'S steady performance in the year 2012 was topped with the Bank been adjudged winner of three categories at the 2012 Banking Awards. Agricultural Development Bank won Best Bank – Medium Term Loan Financing, Best Bank - Corporate Social Responsibility and Best Bank – Agricultural Financing. Furthermore, ADB placed third in the Best Bank - Competitive Pricing Category.
Management of ADB expressed delight for the honours which the Bank received, which emphasized the Bank's growth and success especially under the three year strategic plan between the years 2010 – 2012.
The award for Best Bank - Corporate Social Responsibility went to ADB after it was assessed to be the most Socially Responsible Bank for the year under review - 2012 in regards to programmes financed by the Bank with the aim of improving community at large and the quality of life of their staff. Key amongst several donations and investment in the community was ADB’s donation of $115,400.00 and GHS 169,502.00 to health institutions including the Korle Bu, Castle Clinic and Tamale Teaching Hospital. In addition, the Bank presented over 640 computers and accessories worth over GHS 200,000 to several second cycle institutions and security services.
ADB is undeniably the leading the agricultural financing institution in the country and their position in this sector was further reinforced as it was adjudged the winner of the Agricultural Financing Bank of the year. Despite the various risks associated with financing the agricultural sector, ADB in the year 2012 strengthened its commitment to its core business with a more developmental focus as loan approvals for the sector surpassed GHS 170 million which far exceeded their budget for the year 2012.
The Best Bank – Medium Term Loan Financing was also awarded to ADB as it was perceived by its clients as being the most efficient and effective in the delivery of Medium Term Loan Facilities with repayment periods of between one and five years. In addition, the Bank was adjudged the winner of this category based on other factors including its strength in making available suitable medium term loans, speed of delivery of approved facilities to its clientele, and flexibility with security options and terms of repayment.
The Ghana Banking Awards is an ingenuity of Corporate Initiative Ghana since 2001 which serves to acknowledge from the stakeholders’ perspective the performing banks in selected categories and give public recognition to them.
